Additionally: Happy Valentine's Day Massacre

"You were in Chicago. ... it was St. Valentine's Day?"

It's that time again: Happy V-Day

V-Day is an organized response against violence toward women.

V-Day is a vision: We see a world where women live safely and freely.

V-Day is a demand: Rape, incest, battery, genital mutilation and sexual slavery must end now.

V-Day is a spirit: We believe women should spend their lives creating and thriving rather than surviving or recovering from terrible atrocities.

V-Day is a catalyst: By raising money and consciousness, it will unify and strengthen existing anti-violence efforts. Triggering far-reaching awareness, it will lay the groundwork for new educational, protective, and legislative endeavors throughout the world.

V-Day is a process: We will work as long as it takes. We will not stop until the violence stops.

V-Day is a day. We proclaim Valentine's Day as V-Day, to celebrate women and end the violence.

MAUDE
...My art has been commended as being
strongly vaginal. Which bothers
some men. The word itself makes
some men uncomfortable. Vagina.

DUDE
Oh yeah?

MAUDE
Yes, they don't like hearing it and
find it difficult to say. Whereas
without batting an eye a man will
refer to his "dick" or his "rod" or
his "Johnson".

DUDE
"Johnson"?

MAUDE
Thank you.

There was controversy brewing at FOX's American Idol on Feb. 12, when it was discovered that one of the Idol wannabes had a past in pornography.

"This is a lady who made a mistake -- not an illegal one -- but a moral mistake, at age 18. It was a hard decision, we thought about it long and hard, and in the end we made a judgment that it was not fair to the program, the viewers or to Frenchie."

Pornography is immoral. Involvement in creation/production/distribution of pornography is a moral mistake. More should follow. Deconstruct!
Breakfast, shmreakfast. Look at the score, for Christ's sake! It's only the second period and I'm up 12 to 2. Breakfasts come and go, Renee, but Hartford - the Whale - they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.
. . .
When I moved to Florida, Hartford was still the Whalers and the Bucs were a disgrace to football, not that I was paying attention to them; my first Tampa Bay hockey game, and I was the only red jersey in a sea of Lightening fans. I don't even care about sports.

A Libertarian Atheist Answers Pro-Choice Catholics. He quotes Ayn Rand to support an anti-abortion stance:

When people argue and agreement seems elusive, they often ask, "Who should decide?" Ayn Rand gave a great answer: "Whoever can prove it." Intellectually, both sides have the burden of proof. Read the encyclicals. Read Libertarians for Life's perspective. Read those who insist that abortion is a permissible choice. Then ask which side of the abortion debate best addresses the fundamental questions and which side makes the strongest case.

What if you're still in doubt? Give the benefit of the doubt to life.

Why? 'Cause.

In other news from Catholic dot org, individualism equals death! (not cake).

"Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again."

"That's because those aren't Injuns, woman - they're Jews!"
